Mei Ushū ( Japanese 羽 刕 銘 , Ushū Mei ; born May 2, 1991 in Kushiro , Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese ice hockey player who has been under contract with Nippon Paper Cranes from the Asia League Ice Hockey since 2014 .

Career

Mei Ushū began to play ice hockey at the private Komadai high school Tomakomai , which regularly wins the national high school championships in ice hockey, where he played until 2009. He then spent four years on the ice for the Waseda University team . Since 2014 he has been playing in the Asia League Ice Hockey for Nippon Paper Cranes .

International

For Japan, Ushū took part in the U18 World Championships in Division I in 2008 and 2009 and in the U20 World Championships in Division I in 2011 , when he led the East Asians onto the ice as team captain. He also played with the Japanese student selection at the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum, Turkey .

With the Japanese men's team he first played in the World Cup 2015 in Division I. Even at the world championships in 2017 and 2018 he played in the Division I. In the Winter Asian Games in 2017 , he finished with the Japanese behind Kazakhstan and South Korea third place . He also represented his colors in qualifying for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .
