Melchior Sylvius von Koschenbahr (born September 2, 1725 in Korschlitz , † February 20, 1801 in Prussian Stargard ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and chief of the infantry regiment of the same name .

Life

origin

He was the son of Karl von Koschembahr (1687–1759) and his wife Renate, born von Siegroth and Slawikau (1694–1767). His father was the master of Korschlitz.

Military career

Koschenbahr came in 1741 to the then newly established fusilier regiment "Prince Heinrich" . In 1744/45 he took part in the siege of Prague during the Second Silesian War and in April 1850 was promoted to second lieutenant . In the Seven Years' War Koschenbahr fought near Prague , Kolin and was wounded near Kunersdorf . By the end of January 1860 he was promoted to captain and company commander , became a major at the end of January 1763 and a lieutenant colonel in June 1773 . As such, Koschenbahr received on June 2, 1775 command of the "Hessen-Philippsthal" fusilier regiment. On January 11, 1777 he became a colonel and took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . On September 23, 1784 King Friedrich II appointed him head of the regiment . His promotion to major general took place on September 27, 1784. Due to his poor health, Koschenbahr was exempt from participating in the campaign in 1790. He was nevertheless promoted to lieutenant general on August 11, 1790 and shortly thereafter dimitted on September 26, 1790 with a pension of 1000 thalers.

Koschenbahr married Marianne Helene von Tschammer und Osten (1740–1789) from the house of Dahsau, divorced from Rediger , in 1762 . The following children were born from the marriage:
