Mélina Robert-Michon (born July 18, 1979 in Voiron ) is a French discus thrower .

Athletic career

The vice-junior world champion from 1998 qualified for the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , but was also eliminated from the qualification there as at the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton. In 2001 she became the U23 European champion and won bronze at the Universiade .

She was twelfth at the European Athletics Championships in 2002 and eleventh at the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis.

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg, she did not get beyond the preliminary round again. An eleventh place at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka was followed by the finals and an eighth place at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2009 World Championships in Berlin. She won gold at the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara. At the World Championships in Moscow in 2013 she was runner-up with a width of 66.28 m.

After Robert-Michon had only finished 10th at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing with a width of 60.92 m, she won the silver medal behind the Croatian at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro with a national record of 66.73 m Defending champion Sandra Perković (69.21 m).

From 2000 to 2009 she was national champion ten times in a row.
