The Melville Hall River (also: Kachibona River ) is the longest river in northeast Dominica in the Parish Saint Andrew .
geography
The Melville Hall River rises in the southeast slope of the Morne Diablotins , as well as in the northern slopes of the east adjoining Mosquito Mountain and the northern slope of Mang Peak . Its strong sources lie at 800 m above sea level . The headwaters border on the catchment area of the Toulaman River in the north and on the southern side of the watershed the catchment area of the Layou River joins, which flows south to the Caribbean Sea . In its lower reaches, the river also borders the catchment area of the Crebiche River (Mantipo River), which comes from the Morne Concorde to the south . The source rivers of the Melville Hall River arise close to the border with the Parish Saint Joseph , but initially flow east and merge north of Mang Peak. From there, the river runs in a winding course to the north at a height of less than 400 m , crosses the areas of Gros Bois , Gravel Gutter , First Camp and finally enters the lowlands at Twelve Posts . There the Florie Gutter and the Fire Flint Ravine flow to it from the west and to the left , and from the south and to the right after a further distance of approx. 800 m the Kinseylan Gutter . After a few bends, the river runs steadily to the east, passes Cacao Estate (north) and Vauxhall (south), runs in the lower reaches parallel south to Douglas-Charles Airport (Melville Hall Airfield), where the Canal River flows in from the right and south and flows into it as a separating element between Londondery Bay and Mango Hole Bay after a distance of almost 18 km into the Atlantic . In its upper reaches it runs through the Northern Forest Reserve .
