As co-regent of his father, before he was from 2010 to 2001 BC. Chr. Continued his rule alone. In the Turin King List twelve years of government are occupied.

origin

Mentuhotep III. was the son of his predecessor Mentuhotep II and his wife Tem . A wife of Mentuhotep III. cannot yet be identified with certainty.

supporting documents

He is primarily known from his numerous temples in Upper Egypt , of which mostly only individual reliefs have survived. He also appears in the Saqqara Tablet and in the two lists in Abydos , the list of kings Seti I and the list of kings Ramses II. He is not in the Karnak King List out.

In 1904 the remains of a temple were discovered on a mountain in Thebes- West, which was dedicated to the god Horus and dates back to the time of Mentuhotep III. dated. It measures 21 x 24 m and contained three chapels. The pylon remains in front of the temple are the oldest verifiable pylons in Egypt .

The ruler's vizier was probably Dagi , whose career began under Mentuhotep II. Treasurer continued to be Meketre and (chief) asset manager was Henenu , who led an expedition to Punt for the ruler.
