The Mexican national volleyball team is a selection of the best Mexican players represented by the Federación Mexicana de Voleibol at international tournaments and internationals.

history

World Championship

Mexico first played host to a volleyball world championship in 1974 and came in tenth. Four years later, the Mexicans finished twelfth and in 1982 it was only 18th place. Since then, Mexico has not been able to qualify for the World Cup.

Olympic games

At the 1968 Games in their own country, Mexico took part for the first and so far only time and took the last of ten places. Mexico could not qualify for Beijing 2008 either.

NORCECA championship

The first NORCECA championship took place in Mexico in 1969 and the hosts were only defeated in the final against Cuba . In 1971 the Mexicans finished third, but when the title fights were held again in front of their own audience two years later, they didn't make it into the medal ranks in fifth. In 1975 and 1977 there were two more lost finals against Cuba and in 1979 a third place. After that, the Mexicans finished fourth twice before they were absent for the only time in 1985. From 1987 to 1999 they were always in fifth and fourth place. In 2001 they finished sixth, and in 2003 fourth again. At the tournaments in 2005 and 2007 there were places six and seven.

World cup

Mexico played in the World Cup for the first time in 1977 and finished ninth. In the second participation, the Mexicans reached tenth place.

World league

Mexico started in the world league for the first time in 2015. Without a win, they were eliminated in Division III as bottom group.
