Michael Connaire

Michael John Connaire (born August 20, 1968 in Boston ) is an American tenor .

Michael Connaire studied at the New England Conservatory of Music , where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees . He was a member of the Des Moines Opera Studio and a Fellow of the Bach Aria Group in New York City. Connaire performed at the Tanglewood Festival in Massachusetts .

He also became known in Germany for his interpretations of Johann Sebastian Bach's evangelist roles and works by English composers. As a concert soloist, Connaire appeared mainly in Hamburg , Hanover , Lüneburg , Greifswald , Stralsund and in northern Germany. In July 2015 he sang the tenor part in the Petite Messe solennelle by Gioacchino Rossini at the music festival “Klassik am Meer” in Wilhelmshaven . In October 2015 he was the tenor soloist in the oratorio Elias by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in the Kurhaus Baden-Baden .

Connaire gave concerts with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra , the Saitama Chamber Orchestra, the Slovenian State Orchestra, the Hamburg Baroque Orchestra Elbipolis, the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hannoversche Hofkapelle and the Camerata Hamburg. In addition to Germany, he also performed in France , Slovenia , the United States and Japan .

Occasionally Connaire also appeared as an opera and operetta singer. In the 2005/06 season he sang Pedrillo in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Theater Vorpommern . In June 2008 he took on the role of Gabriel von Eisenstein in the operetta Die Fledermaus in a production of the Hamburg University of Music and Theater , directed by Niels-Peter Rudolph .

Connaire has several sound documents, including the Bach cantatas BWV 232 and BWV 245, as well as Mendelssohn's Elias , Frank Martin's Requiem and works by Arthur Honegger .
