Michael Cornelius O'Neill

Michael Cornelius O'Neill (born February 15, 1898 in Kemptville , Ontario , Canada , † June 10, 1983 in Regina , Saskatchewan ) was a Canadian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Regina .

Life

Michael Cornelius O'Neill attended St. Michael's College in Toronto . He studied philosophy and Catholic theology at St. Augustine's Seminary in Edmonton. O'Neill received on 21 December 1927, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Michael Cornelius O'Neill then served at the Edmonton seminary . From 1939 to 1946 he served as a military chaplain in the Canadian Armed Forces . O'Neill became rector of St. Joseph's Cathedral Basilica in Edmonton in 1946 .

On December 4, 1947, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Archbishop of Regina. The Archbishop of Toronto , James Charles Cardinal McGuigan , donated him episcopal ordination on April 14, 1948 ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Edmonton , John Hugh MacDonald , and the Archbishop of Québec , Maurice Roy . The inauguration took place on April 21 of the same year.

O'Neill attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council . On September 26, 1973 Pope Paul VI. the resignation put forward by Michael Cornelius O'Neill.
