"Herbsttage Blindenmarkt" celebrates its 25th anniversary

The operetta festival " Herbsttage Blindenmarkt" , his first festival, was founded by Michael Garschall as a student in his home town in 1989. As Austria's youngest artistic director at the time, his goal was to present the operetta genre, which is very close to his heart, in a contemporary form . Since then, Garschall has been working with great success, which extends beyond the borders of Lower Austria, exemplarily for a meaningful reinterpretation and for the rediscovery of the operetta genre. At this Mostviertel Festival Garschall also succeeded in the feat, an ensemble of professionals and local amateurs, the is homogeneous in interaction and enables professional productions to be united.

At the beginning, the extensive program included concerts, readings, cabaret and exhibitions, as well as a performance of operetta excerpts as an in-house production. Since 1992 the "Herbsttage" in the multi-purpose hall have been showing a whole operetta: While the first production was dedicated to Lehár's " Lustiger Witwe ", it now ranges from Strauss' " Fledermaus ", to Zeller's " bird dealer ", to rarities like Falls " Fidelem Bauer "and Ziehrer's" Landstreicher "to the" White Horse Inn ". This world success by Ralph Benatzky was on the program for the 2014 anniversary season. Since the "Autumn Days" began, more than 215,000 guests have attended the festival.

Founding of the social initiative "help with art"

In 2007 KR Hilde Umdasch and Michael Garschall founded the social initiative "help with art", which in 2007 received the "Maecenas" (Umdasch Group). This facility enables disadvantaged people to have a carefree theater experience. The guests not only receive a free ticket, but also food, on-site support and free travel.

operklosterneuburg: Talent factory with an international reputation

Since Michael Garschall was appointed director of the Klosterneuburg Opera Festival, which has existed since 1994, in 1998, the operklosterneuburg has earned its reputation as a talent factory far beyond the borders of Austria. With his motto "Exclusive, but not elitist", Garschall has succeeded in establishing opera festivals in Klosterneuburg that are well above the level of summer theater. His recipe for success here is also: contemporary, but not aloof. The repertoire ranges from Mozart, Donizetti, Beethoven, Nicolai to Verdi.

With his young ensembles, Garschall not only attracts opera fans, but of course also young audiences. And for the "youngsters" the festival offers the popular "opera for children". The young "Sinfonietta Baden" is available as a festival orchestra. On the occasion of the 900th anniversary of Klosterneuburg Abbey, Mozart's masterpiece "The Magic Flute" was performed in 2014 in the atmospheric imperial court of the Abbey.
