Michael Gleason (screenwriter)
Michael Gleason (born 1938 in Brooklyn , New York City , USA ; † October 21, 2016 in Santa Monica , California , USA) was an American television producer and screenwriter .
Life
Gleason attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. After completing his education, he moved to Los Angeles . Together with William Blinn, he wrote a screenplay for an episode of the western series Thousand Miles of Dust in 1962 . This was followed by scripts for other television series , including At the foot of the blue mountains , My Uncle from Mars and Big Valley .
As of 1965, Gleason wrote more than 130 episodes for the Peyton Place series , based on the success of the 1957 film of the same name . Gleason also produced episodes for the crime series A Sheriff in New York (1970-1977). Two of these episodes were nominated for Emmy and Writers Guild of America Awards.
Together with Robert Butler , Gleason created the television series Remington Steele in 1980 . There were 5 seasons with 94 episodes, which were broadcast from 1982 to 1987.
Gleason was married and had 8 children.
