Josef von Althann
Michael Joseph Graf von Althann, baron on the Goldburg in Murstetten (born June 13, 1798 in Linz , † August 5, 1861 in Mittelwalde , district of Habelschwerdt ) was an Austrian - Prussian landowner and politician.

Althann came from the Althann family , which in addition to extensive property in the Austrian Empire, also owned some goods in the County of Glatz ( Prussian since 1763 ). Through the possession of the Majorat Mittelwalde , the family held a hereditary seat in the Prussian manor house . The Althann also had a hereditary seat in the Austrian manor .
Josef von Althann was the eldest son of Michael Maximilian Franz Graf von Althann (1769-1834) and Maria Franziska Eleonore Countess of Thürheim (1774-1818). The later member of the manor house Michael Karl and the kk officer Michael Ferdinand were his younger brothers.
Josef von Althann married Eleonore Countess von Hartig in 1830 . He had two children with her, one son died before her father. His younger brother Michael Karl became heir .
Life
Althann was lord of Mittelwalde, Schönfeld , Wölfelsdorf (County Glatz, Silesia), the lordships of Zwentendorf and Murstetten (Austria) and Swojschitz , Grulich and Militschoves (Bohemia). He was a first class Spanish grandee . In the Archduchy of Austria above and below the Enns, he had the ceremonial rank of Colonel Hereditary Pre-cutter, shield bearer and referee.
In 1847/1848 Josef von Althann had a seat in the gentlemen's curia of the First and Second United State Parliament . From 1856 until his death in 1861 he was a member of the Prussian mansion with hereditary rights. In 1861 he was a member of the Austrian manor house for a short time after it was founded in 1861.
Plum tree
The gardener J. Procházka named the variety of the plum tree ' Graf Althanns Reneklode ' after his name, which was grown in Swojschitz in the 50s of the 19th century.
