Michael Korda
Michael Vincent Korda (* 8. October 1933 in London , United Kingdom ) is a British writer and publisher of Hungarian origin. From 1958 to 2006, Korda worked for the Simon & Schuster publishing house in New York City .

Michael Korda grew up in Great Britain and France. He was at the Swiss boarding school Le Rosey taught and studied at Magdalen College of the University of Oxford . From 1952 to 1954 he did his military service in the Royal Air Force .
In the 1950s he moved to New York City, where he initially worked as an assistant to the playwright Sidney Kingsley . From 1958 he worked as an editor at the Simon & Schuster publishing house. Later he was promoted to editor in chief of the publishing house. In the following years he edited works by Richard Nixon , Ronald Reagan , Larry McMurtry and David McCullough . In 2006 he officially ended his work for Simon & Schuster, but stayed with the company as editor in chief emeritus .
1985 appeared Queenie , a roman à clef about his aunt Merle Oberon . The book received mostly positive reviews and was later filmed as a TV miniseries with Joss Ackland , Martin Balsam , Kirk Douglas and Mia Sara .
In the fall of 1994 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Three years later he published the book From Man to Man , in which he shared his experiences with the disease.
In 2007 he published a biography of Dwight D. Eisenhower with Ike: An American Hero . Two years later With Wings Like Eagles - A History of the Battle of Britain , a report on the Battle of Britain .
family
Korda is the son of British actress Gertrude Musgrove and Hungarian film architect Vincent Korda . Korda is the nephew of the film director Zoltan Korda and the film producer and director Alexander Korda .
In 1958 he married Carolyn Keese. After the divorce he married Margaret Mogford , with whom he later published books. The son Chris Korda , born in 1962 , a gender activist and musician as well as the leader of the controversial religious community Church of Euthanasia, arose from the first marriage . After founding the Church of Euthanasia, Korda unsuccessfully urged his son to stop his activities or to take a pseudonym.
