Michael Kotsch

Michael Kotsch (* 1965 ) is a German Protestant theologian , lecturer and author of apologetic and religious studies books.

Life

Michael Kotsch studied Protestant theology at the STH Basel from 1986 and from 1991 to 1995 theology , religious studies and ecology (people - society - environment) at the University of Basel . Between 1990 and 1995 he taught as a religion teacher on behalf of the Reformed Church in the cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Land . He then switched to teaching denomination and sect studies , religious studies, apologetics and department head for church historyto the Brake Bible School . From 2004 to 2008 he was a lecturer in church history and denominational studies at the STH Basel. Since 2004 he has been conducting doctoral studies in the field of church history.

Kotsch has been working with the Working Group for Biblical Ethics in Medicine (ABEM) since 1999 and with the Bible Association from 2000 , where he was elected chairman in 2005. From 2009 to 2016 he was chairman of the Working Group for Weltanschauungsfragen (AG WELT eV), which developed the devotional book “Schwarzbrot 2015” as an alternative to the Moravian slogans . Since 2002 he has been a guest lecturer for religious studies at the Bibelle und Missionsschule Ostfriesland (BMO) in Großheide , since 2009 at the Evangelical Academy Vienna (EVAK) and from 2009 to 2011 and 2018 at the Martin Bucer Seminar .

He is the author of several books on apologetic and religious studies topics.

Among other things, he spoke out against a ban on conversion therapies . Corresponding projects such as that of the Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn described Kotsch as "ideological".

Michael Kotsch is married to his wife Viviane. The couple has three children and lives in Horn-Bad Meinberg .
