Michael Schöps

Michael "Mike" Schöps (born March 31, 1957 in Bonn ) is a former German volleyball trainer .

Coaching career

Mike Schöps played volleyball for the Bundesliga club SSF Bonn during his studies ( sports and geography ) . After completing his diploma at the Cologne coaching academy, he was successful coach of various German women's volleyball Bundesliga clubs from the late 1980s . From 1988 to 1991 he coached VfL Oythe , from 1991 to 1993 the league competitor TSG Tübingen and from 1993 to 1996 the CJD Feuerbach . In 1998 he won the DVV Cup with the VEW Telnet Schwerte . He has celebrated his greatest successes since 1999 at Schweriner SC , with whom he was German champion three times in a row from 2000 to 2002 and the 2001 DVV cup winner. From 2003 to 2006 he trained the Rote Raben Vilsbiburg and was twice German runner-up. From 2006 to 2008 he was assistant trainer at NA at Helmut von Soosten's side . Hamburg , before he became head coach at VfB 91 Suhl for a year . His last position was from 2009 to 2011 in the 2. Bundesliga North coach of the men from TSV Giesen / Hildesheim and became champion here in 2011. Shortly afterwards he announced his resignation from the coaching chair because he was offered a teaching position in Schwerin.

Private

Mike Schöps is married and has five children. Today he works at the Niels Stensen School in Schwerin as a teacher for sports and geography.
