Michael Strübel
Michael Strübel (born May 16, 1954 in Stuttgart ; † December 14, 2009 in Erfurt ) was a German political scientist and university professor .
Life
After graduating from high school in 1973, he studied political science, history and international law at the University of Heidelberg and the Free University of Berlin , which Strübel completed in the 1977/78 winter semester with a master's degree at the Philosophical-Historical Faculty of Heidelberg University. From 1977 to 1980 he worked on the Eurocommunism and NATO project, funded by the German Society for Peace and Conflict Research, at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg .
From 1981 to 1985 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Giessen in the field of international relations . When Klaus von Beyme Strübel 1982 at the University of Heidelberg with the work continuity and change in the international policy of the Italian Communists under the banner of "historical compromise" to Dr. phil. PhD. From 1985 to 1989 he was a university assistant for international relations and comparative government at the Institute for Political Science at Heidelberg University. In the academic year 1989/90 Strübel was a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence . His habilitation took place in 1991 with the thesis From national to international environmental policy - developments, deficits, tasks also at the University of Heidelberg, after which he became a private lecturer there. At the same time he held the chair for Comparative Government Studies at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Stuttgart . This was followed by visiting professorships from 1992 to 1994 at the Humboldt University in Berlin and, through the German Academic Exchange Service, at Washington University in St. Louis .
In 1994 Strübel accepted an appointment as a university professor of the State of Thuringia for political science with a focus on international politics at the Erfurt University of Education . From 2001 until his death he was university professor for international politics at the newly founded political science faculty of the University of Erfurt .
Research priorities
Strübel dealt mainly with four areas, inter alia with the German foreign and security policy , also with the environment , energy and climate policy , as well as transport and international organizations . The area of film and politics was a little further away from his primary teaching activities.
