Michal Sersen (born December 28, 1985 in Gelnica , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Slovan Bratislava in the continental hockey league and the Slovak extra league (since 2019) since November 2012 .
Career
Michal Sersen began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of HC Slovan Bratislava , for whose professional team he made his debut in the extra league in the 2002/03 season . In his rookie year , he remained pointless and punished in 17 games and became Slovak champions for the first time with his team . The defender then played for three years in the Canadian junior league QMJHL for L'Océanic de Rimouski and the Remparts de Québec . With Rimouski he won the Coupe du Président , the QMJHL championship in 2005 . In the following season he was successful with the Remparts in the Memorial Cup , the championship of the Canadian Hockey League . During his time in the QMJHL, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the fifth round as a total of 130th player by the Pittsburgh Penguins , with which he then received no contract.
From 2006 to 2010 Sersen was under contract with his ex-club HC Slovan Bratislava in the Extraliga. With the capital city he won the national championship again in 2007 and 2008 and competed for them in the 2008/09 season at European level in the Champions Hockey League . In this he gave a template in four games. For the 2010/11 season , the Slovak was committed by Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg from the Continental Hockey League . In June 2011 he received a one-year contract with HC Sparta Prague from the Czech Extraliga and subsequently completed over 50 games for Sparta, in which he collected 27 scorer points. In June 2012, he moved to KHL participant HC Lev Prague within Prague , with whom he signed a one-year contract.
At the end of October Sersen was handed over from HC Lev for a right to choose in the KHL Junior Draft 2013 to Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg , who in turn transferred him to HC Slovan Bratislava a day later. At Slovan, Sersen initially received a contract until the end of the 2014/15 season, which was extended in 2015, 2016 and 2018 respectively.
During the 2016/17 season, Sersen was loaned to the farm team HC 05 Banská Bystrica , with whom he won another Slovak championship title at the end of the season.
International
For Slovakia , Sersen took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in 2003 . In this he prepared a goal in seven games. At the 2011 World Cup , he represented the senior team of his home country for the first time and played a game. At the tournament a year later he won the silver medal with the national team.
