Michel Cusson

Michel Cusson (born January 22, 1957 in Drummondville , Québec , Canada ) is a Canadian composer who was first known as a fusion musician .

Life and accomplishments

Cusson studied music at McGill University in Montreal and at Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 1976 he founded the award-winning jazz band UZEB ; the members were Cusson on guitar, Alain Caron on electric bass and Paul Brochu on drums. They released ten albums and existed until 1991. After that, Cusson devoted himself increasingly to composing for films and television series; he also worked in a trio with Lorraine Desmarais and Michel Donato in the formation Vision .

He wrote film music for the four-part historical film Napoleon (2002) by Yves Simoneau with Christian Clavier and Isabella Rossellini , the love drama Séraphin: un homme et son péché (2002) by Charles Binamé with Karine Vanasse , Pierre Lebeau and Roy Dupuis , as well as the dramatic sports film Maurice Richard (2005) by Charles Binamé, in which Roy Dupuis, Julie LeBreton and Stephen McHattie talk about the life of the ice hockey player of the same name. The Séraphin: un homme et son péché soundtrack hit a record in Québec with more than 75,000 copies sold.

For his music, Cusson received a Gemini Award for Dr. Lucille and in 2003 a Prix ​​Jutra for Séraphin: un homme et son péché . He was nominated for the Genie Awards in 2003, twice in 2004, 2005 and 2007.
