Michel Louis Edmond Galabru (born October 27, 1922 in Safi , Morocco , † January 4, 2016 in Paris ) was a French actor and comedian .

Life

Michel Galabru played theater until the 1950s, especially at the Comédie-Française , where he was cast in both classics and contemporary pieces. His penchant for comic roles led to film offers. In Germany, Galabru was best known in the gendarme films as Jérôme Gerber, the superior of Louis de Funès and his counterpart at the same time . In France, his prominence is based on the creation of subtle characters such as, for example, directed by Bertrand Tavernier in The Judge and the Murderer , for which he received the César for Best Actor in 1977 . In total, he was seen in more than 250 films.

Michel Galabru died on January 4, 2016 at the age of 93 in Paris. and was buried in the Montmartre cemetery.

Galabru won a César for Best Actor in 1977 for his role in The Judge and the Murderer . He was also nominated twice for a César as best supporting actor, in 1986 for Subway and 1991 for Uranus .
