Michelle Susan Martin , OAM (born April 29, 1967 in Sydney ) is a former Australian squash player .
Career
Michelle Martin is one of the most successful squash players. Her greatest achievement was winning the World Championship three times in 1993 , 1994 and 1995 when she defeated Liz Irving , Cassie Jackman and Sarah Fitz-Gerald , respectively. Already in 1992 she was in the final, but was defeated in three sets by Susan Devoy . From 1997 to 1999 she was three more times in the final, but lost to Sarah Fitz-Gerald twice in five sets and in 1999 Cassie Campion in three sets. With the Australian national team , she was world champion four times between 1992 and 1998. At the Commonwealth Games in 1998 she won gold medals in singles and in mixed alongside Craig Rowland . Between 1993 and 1998 Michelle Martin won the British Open six times in a row. In March 1993 she became the world leader for the first time and held this position for 44 months in a row. Sarah Fitz-Gerald replaced her at the helm for two years before taking over the management for the last time for 16 months in November 1998. She ended her career at the top of the world rankings at the end of 1999.
In 2001 she was inducted into the World Squash Hall of Fame and Sport Australia Hall of Fame . She is also a member of the Squash Australia Hall of Fame . From 2004 to 2010 she was the national coach of the Australian women's national team.

Michelle Martin's brothers Brett and Rodney Martin were also successful squash professionals.
