Miha Šimenc (born December 21, 1995 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian cross-country skier .

Career

Šimenc, who competes for TSK Logatec, mainly participated in junior races of the cross-country alpine cup from 2010 to 2015 . He finished eighth in the U20 overall ranking in the 2014/15 season . At the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck , he took 16th place with the mixed relay, 12th place with the relay and seventh place in the sprint. His best placement at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2013 in Predeal was sixth place in the sprint and mixed relay. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2013 in Liberec , he came 44th over 10 km freestyle and 41st place in the skiathlon . He ran his first World Cup races in November 2015 in Ruka , which he finished in 93rd place in the sprint and 86th place over 10 km freestyle. At the U23 World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râşnov , he achieved 33rd place over 15 km classic and 12th place in the sprint. He got his first World Cup points at the Tour de Ski 2016/17 in Münstertal (Val Müstair) with 22nd place in the sprint. At the U23 World Ski Championships in 2017 in Soldier Hollow , he finished 40th in the 15 km freestyle, 36th place in the skiathlon and tenth place in the sprint. In February 2017 at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti he came in 35th place in the sprint and 13th place together with Janez Lampič in the team sprint. In the 2017/18 season he took 85th place in the Ruka Triple and 77th place in the World Cup final in Falun . At the highlight of the season, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he ran 88th place over 15 km freestyle, 32nd place in the sprint and 21st place together with Janez Lampič in the team sprint.

In the 2018/19 season, Šimenc made it into the points ten times and thus achieved 49th place in the overall World Cup. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , he finished 33rd in the sprint and, together with Janez Lampič, finished ninth in the team sprint. In the following season he achieved seven placements in the points, 53rd place in the overall World Cup and 21st place in the Sprint World Cup. He finished the Tour de Ski 2019/20 in 54th place.
