Mihai Stere (born December 30, 1975 ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach . He played a total of 315 games in the Romanian League 1 and the Cypriot Cyprus .
Player career
In 1996, Stere joined Farul Constanta in the Divizia A . There he was able to work for a regular position and remained loyal to the club until its relegation in 2000 . Then he committed the FC Brașov . With the club he finished the 2000/01 season in third place and qualified for the UEFA Cup . There he and his team overtook him after surviving the qualifying round of Aus in the first round against Inter Milan . After four years he left Brașov in the summer of 2004 and joined the Cypriot first division club Nea Salamis Famagusta . In the summer of 2006, league competitor Aris Limassol signed him . With Aris he got into the relegation battle and returned to Romania in early 2008, where second division club CS Concordia Chiajna took him under contract. In the summer of 2008 he moved to league competitor FCM Târgu Mureş . With his new club, he rose to League 1 at the end of the 2009/10 season . There it was only used irregularly. In the summer of 2011 he returned to Chiajna, but already joined the ambitious third division club Corona Brașov in early 2012 . With Corona, he rose to League II. In early 2013 he moved again to Târgu Mureş, which was now back in League II. After another six months at Corona Brașov, he ended his active career there at the end of 2013.
Coaching career
After the end of his football career, Stere began a career as a coach. From the summer of 2014, he initially worked as an assistant coach at FC Brașov , before succeeding his previous boss Adrian Szabo , who had been promoted to technical director, in January 2016 . When Szabo resigned from this office in March 2016, Stere became his assistant again. Since summer 2016 he has been assistant coach under Szabo's successor Cornel Țălnar .
