Career
Mika Strömberg began his career as a hockey player at Jokerit , for which he made his debut in the I divisioona in the 1987/88 season and with whom he rose to the SM-liiga in 1989. At European level, the left-handed shooter won the European Cup twice in a row in 1995 and 1996 with Jokerit and was third in 1993. For the 1999/00 season, Strömberg moved abroad for the first time, where he played in the Swiss National League A for Friborg-Gottéron . He then played for two years for their league rivals EHC Chur before the 1995 world champion returned to his Finnish homeland, where he received a contract with his ex-club Jokerit. With Jokerit he achieved another success at European level in the 2002/03 season by winning the IIHF IIHF Continental Cup . The Finn then went abroad again and played for Djurgården Hockey in the Swedish Elitserien for the next three years . For the 2006/07 season, Strömberg returned to Finland and achieved second place in the IIHF European Champions Cup with HPK Hämeenlinna . The former Olympian began the following season at KalPa Kuopio , but ended it at his long-term ex-club Jokerit. Between 2008 and 2010, Strömberg went back on the ice for KalPa before ending his career and becoming an assistant trainer at KalPa.
