Mikael Granskog

Mikael Granskog (born March 26, 1961 in Mariehamn ) is a former Finnish football player and current official.

Athletic career

Granskog comes from the youth of IFK Mariehamn , for whom he also played his first seasons in adult football. Before the 1981 season, the defender moved to Sweden for IFK Norrköping in the Allsvenskan . There he was a regular under coach Bo Axberg in the team that qualified third in the table for the 1982/83 UEFA Cup at the end of the season . There the team reached the second round, in which they only failed on penalties at AS Roma . At the same time she got in the championship in the relegation battle and had to be third from bottom in the relegation . After a 2-0 defeat in the first leg against BK Häcken , the 1-0 win in the second leg meant relegation to the second division. There he moved under the new coach Lars-Göran Qwist in the second line and was involved in winning the second division championship in the northern season before Djurgårdens IF with only nine appearances, in the subsequent promotion games he was not used. Even in the 1984 season , in which the promoted team reached the championship finals that were ultimately lost against IFK Göteborg , he was only a supplementary player. Only when Kent Karlsson took over the coaching position for the following season did he play more than half of the league games, but after the end of the 1986 season he said goodbye to IFK Norrköping after 81 league games, 72 of them in the Allsvenskan. First Granskog played a season with the Swedish second division club Väsby IK , then he was active for the amateur club Bollstanäs SK . From 1990 he was active again in Finland, where he played again for IFK Mariehamn after a season at IF Östernäskamraterna between 1991 and the end of his career in 1995.

Between 1982 and 1986, Granskog, who had previously played for various junior national teams, played 24 international matches for the Finnish national team .

During his time at IFK Norrkoping studied Granskog at Linköping University , where he in 1985 as a Bachelor of Business Administration graduate . From 1987 onwards, Granskog concentrated mainly on his career in the banking sector. After returning to Finland in autumn 1989, he initially worked for the Andelsbanken för Åland . In 1997 he moved to Nordea . At the same time he was active as a functionary at his hometown club IFK Mariehamn, in October 2009 he resigned as Chairman of the Board after five years in office. However, he remained on the board as the person responsible for the junior division.
