Michael Robert Lundin (born September 24, 1984 in Burnsville , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who was last under contract with Jokerit in the Continental Hockey League .
Career
Mike Lundin began his career as a hockey player on the University of Maine team , for which he was active from 2003 to 2007. With his university he won the Hockey East championship in the 2003/04 season . Then the defender was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the fourth round as a total of 102nd player by the Tampa Bay Lightning . He made his debut in the National Hockey League for Tampa in the 2007/08 season . He prepared six goals in 81 games. In his rookie year he was able to draw attention to himself with good performances, so that he was allowed to participate in the NHL YoungStars Game on January 16, 2008 . In his second season as a professional, the left-shooter came to 25 NHL appearances and was only used in Tampa's farm team from the American Hockey League , the Norfolk Admirals , during the season. During the 2009/10 season he played again predominantly in the NHL for the Lightning.
On July 9, 2011, Lundin signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Wild . A year later he was hired again as a free agent by the Ottawa Senators . On June 11, 2013 it was announced that Lundin is moving to Barys Astana in the Continental Hockey League . After three years there, he moved to Switzerland, where he was signed by EHC Biel from the National League A (NLA) in August 2016 . After only one season, he left the club and moved to Jokerit in the Continental Hockey League. Due to an injury, he was only able to play 23 KHL games for the Joker . In September 2018, Lundin announced that he would have to take a break from the 2018/19 season due to ongoing injuries.
International
Lundin took part in the 2010 World Cup with the US national team. The defender scored an assist in six World Cup games .
