Mike Mokamba Nyang'au (born August 28, 1994 in Nyamira ) is a Kenyan sprinter .

Athletic career

Mike Mokamba gained his first international experience at the Junior African Championships 2011 in Gaborone , where he finished seventh in the 100-meter run and was eliminated in the semi-finals over 200 meters. He also achieved fifth place with the Kenyan 4 x 100 meter relay. He then took part in the World Youth Championships in Lille over 200 meters , where he also reached the semifinals. In 2012 he qualified over 100 meters for the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , where he was eliminated with 10.70 s in the first round. In 2013 he took part in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the World Championships in Moscow and was eliminated there with 3: 06.29 min in the preliminary round.

In 2015 he took part in the 4 x 200 meter relay in the World Relays in the Bahamas , but was disqualified there in the preliminary stages. At the World Championships in Beijing , he started in the 200-meter run and retired there with 20.51 s in the first round . In the fall he finished eighth at the World Military Games in Mungyeon, South Korea, over 200 meters and with the 4 x 100 meter relay and was eliminated over 100 meters in the semifinals. In 2016, the first round of over 200 meters at the African Championships in Durban . At the World Relays 2017, he took seventh place with the 4 x 200 meter relay. In 2018 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time and was eliminated there in the preliminary round over 200 meters. In addition, he was used with the 4-by-400-meter relay in the run-up, before the relay was disqualified in the final. He then retired at the African Championships in Asaba over 200 meters with 21.64 s in the preliminary round and finished fifth with the relay in 39.77 s. At the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama , he finished fourth with the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1: 22.55 minutes. He then took part in the Africa Games in Rabat for the first time and was eighth over 200 meters over 200 meters in 21.05 s. With the 4 x 100 meter relay he was eliminated with 41.28 seconds and with the 4 x 400 meter relay he finished fourth in 3: 05.71 minutes.

In 2012, 2013 and 2019 Mokamba became the Kenyan champion in the 200-meter run.
