Mikito Tachizaki ( Japanese 立 崎 幹 人 , Tachizaki Mikito ; born May 17, 1988 ) is a Japanese biathlete and cross-country skier .

Career

Mikito Tachizaki was initially a cross-country skier. He contested his first international races since December 2006 in the Far East Cup and in FIS races. In the Far East Cup overall ranking of the 2006/07 season , he finished 14th. The first highlight was his participation in the Winter Universiade 2009 in Yabuli , where he finished 30th in the 10-kilometer freestyle race, 30th in the freestyle sprint, 19th in the pursuit and 14th in the 30-kilometer classic. In the relay race he won the silver medal with Kōhei Shimizu , Masaya Kimura and Keishin Yoshida behind Russia and ahead of the Czech Republic. After further appearances in the Far East Cup and FIS races, without showing outstanding results, he took part again in 2011 in Erzurum and Kandilli in the Winter Universiade , in which the Japanese 21st over 10-kilometer classic and the pursuit, 12th in the freestyle sprint and 20th in the 30km freestyle mass start race. The following season he switched to biathlon.

Tachizaki competed in his first international biathlon race at the start of the 2011/12 season in the IBU Cup , where he finished 95th in his first sprint race in Östersund . He achieved his best result so far as the season progressed as 55th in a sprint in Ridnaun . The highlight of the season and the first international championship were the 2012 World Championships in Ruhpolding . Tachizaki was used here only in the sprint and finished in 92nd place.
