Career

Miloslav Gureň at the AHL All-Star Classic 2001

Miloslav Gureň began his career as a ice hockey player at AC ZPS Zlín , for whose professional team he was active in the Czech extra league from 1993 to 1996 . During this period he was selected in the third round of the NHL Entry Draft in 1995 as a total of 60th player by the Canadiens de Montréal , for whose farm team , the Fredericton Canadiens from the American Hockey League , he was mainly used from 1996 to 1999. In addition, the defender played twelve games for Montréal in the National Hockey League in the 1998/99 season . In the following season he was on the ice a further 24 times in the NHL, but the Czech could not prevail in the Canadiens' NHL team, so that from 1999 to 2001 he mainly ran for their new AHL farm team Citadelles de Québec .

For the 2001/02 season Gureň returned to his Czech homeland and signed a contract with HC Oceláři Třinec from the Extraliga. The following season he spent at HK CSKA Moscow in the Russian Super League , before he was active from 2003 to 2008 for their league rivals HK Sibir Novosibirsk . The former national player spent the 2008/09 season again in Třinec before completing the 2009/10 season for HC Litvínov . In April 2010 he finally moved to HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi from the 1st league , the second division in Czech ice hockey. He then moved to Italy in the summer of 2012, where he signed a contract with SG Pontebba . In the following years he changed clubs several times and won the French league cup in 2014 with Rouen Hockey Elite 76 .

In 2015 he ended his professional career and since then has been playing at amateur level for HC Spartak Uherský Brod.
