Mitchell Humphries (born June 25, 1993 in Melbourne ) is an Australian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Mustangs IHC in the Australian Ice Hockey League since June 2017 .

Career

Mitchell Humphries began his career as a hockey player at the Banff Hockey Academy in the Canadian province of Alberta , for whose team, the Academy Bears, he played until 2012. He then returned to his native Melbourne and has since played for Melbourne Ice in the Australian Ice Hockey League . With this team he won the 2012 Goodall Cup , the Australian championship. He spent the southern hemisphere summer 2012/13 again in North America, with the Granite City Lumberjacks from the third-class junior league NA3HL. In 2014 he was also used with the Melbourne Glaciers in the Australian Junior Ice Hockey League . During the southern hemisphere summer 2014/15 he played in the Swedish Division 3 , the fifth division of the country, with the Lidingö Vikings. In June 2017, he left Melbourne Ice during the current season and joined local rivals Mustangs IHC .

International

In the junior division, Humphries took part for Australia in the U20 World Championships in 2012 and 2013 , when he was named the best player on his team, in Division II. For the men's national team he was at the World Championships of Division II in 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , when he was the second best scorer of the tournament, together with the Mexican Brian Baxter Arroyo López and his compatriot Cameron Todd behind his teammate Wehebe Darge , and in 2017 on the ice .
