Wehebe Darge (born December 4, 1991 in Adelaide ) is an Australian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Hockey Club de Caen in the French Division 1 since 2017 and has also played in the summer months of the CBR Brave in the Australian Ice Hockey League since 2017 .

Career

Wehebe Darge began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with Adelaide Adrenaline , for which he was active in the Australian Ice Hockey League from 2009 to 2010 and with which he won the Goodall Cup in 2009 . In the meantime he also played in Canada with the Harrington College Icebergs in the America East Hockey League and in the United States with the Florida Eels in the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League . From 2010 to 2012 he played with the Alaska Avalanche in the North America Hockey League . From 2012 to 2016 he was also active for Adelaide Adrenaline in the summer half of the year, so in 2016 he was voted the most valuable player in the AIHL. After playing some games with Kuusamon Pallo-Karhut in the fourth-class Finnish II-divisioona in 2013, he moved to the Dayton Demonz in the Federal Hockey League in autumn 2013 , which he won with the Ohio club in 2014. Shortly after the start of the 2014/15 season, he moved to league rivals Danville Dashers . After spending the 2015/16 season at IHC Leuven in the Dutch-Belgian BeNe League , he moved to the Peterborough Phantoms in the English Premier Ice Hockey League . Since 2017 he has been playing for the Hockey Club de Caen in the French Division 1 , the second highest division in the country. He played for CBR Brave for the first time in Australia in the 2017 summer season .

International

For Australia , Darge took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championship in Division III in 2009 and the U20 World Junior Championship in Division II in 2011 . At the U18 World Cup in 2009 he and his team were promoted to Division II, to which he made a significant contribution with his offensive qualities. He was named the best striker at the tournament and had the most goals and scorer points. He also had the best plus-minus balance of the tournament.

In the men's field, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships of Division II in 2010 , when he was voted the best player of his team, in 2013 , 2015 , 2016 , when he was the top scorer and best preparer of the tournament and also the best plus / Minus balance of the tournament and was consequently voted the best player of his team in 2017 and 2018 .
