The Mitterhorn is with a height of 2491  m above sea level. A. Located on the southern edge of the Stone Sea . It is located in the Zell am See (Pinzgau) district of the State of Salzburg .

The mountain stands on the southern edge of the Steinernes Meer above Saalfelden , to the left Persailhorn , to the right Breithorn ( 2504  m above sea level ).

The ascent to the Mitterhorn often takes place as crossing the three peaks Persailhorn, Mitterhorn and Breithorn via the Saalfeldener Höhenweg (insured B / C ), starting from the Peter-Wiechenthaler-Hütte or the Riemannhaus .
