Mogi Guaçu , officially Portuguese Município de Mogi Guaçu , is a city in the Brazilian state of São Paulo . According to the 2010 census, the city had 137,245 inhabitants, which was estimated at 151,888 inhabitants in 2019. It is 591 m above sea level; As of 2018 it has an area of around 812.8 km² with a population density of 169 inhabitants per km².
geography
The city name is derived from the Tupi language and means large snake river . The city was founded in 1877. The inhabitants are called guaçuanos . A city nickname, along with others, is Berço dos Italianos (cradle of Italians).
Surrounding communities are Aguaí , Mogi Mirim , Itapira , Conchal , Estiva Gerbi , Espírito Santo do Pinhal , Araras , Pirassununga and Leme .
