Mohammad Jawad Bahonar ( Persian محمد جواد باهنر Muhammad Javad Bahonar ; * 1933 in Kerman ; † August 30, 1981 in Tehran ) was a Shiite clergyman with the title Hodschatoleslam and Prime Minister of Iran after the Iranian Revolution .

He was appointed a member of the Revolutionary Council as a student of Khomeini on February 5, 1979 , and was one of the founding members of the Islamic Republican Party . After Mohammad Beheschti's death on June 28, 1981, Bahonar succeeded him as chairman of the party. On August 5, 1981 he was appointed Prime Minister.

Bahonar died together with President Mohammad Ali Radschāʾi in a bomb attack by the People's Mujahedin on August 30, 1981. The assassin had managed to deposit a bomb in Bahonar's study.
