Mojynqum ( Kazakh Мойынқұм , Russian Мойынкум Moiynkum ; until 1997 Furmanowka / Фурмановка) is a place in the Shambyl region in Kazakhstan . It is the administrative center of the Mojynqum district of the same name .

geography

Mojynqum is located in southern Kazakhstan in the Shambyl area in the middle of the Mujunkum desert . The place is located about 200 kilometers northeast of Taras and about 200 kilometers north of the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek . By Mojynqum the river flows Schu . The Aqbaqai gold deposit is located 60 kilometers northeast of the village .

history

The place was founded in 1898 by Moscow businessman Fyodor Guljajew. In his honor the place was first named Guljajewka (Гуляевка). During the Soviet era it was renamed Furmanowka (Фурмановка) in 1937. After the independence of Kazakhstan, the place got its current name.
