Molly Bernard
Molly Kate Bernard (born April 10, 1988 in New York City , New York ) is an American actress . She gained fame primarily through the role of Laure Heller from the Younger series .
life and career
Molly Bernard is from Brooklyn, New York . She is a granddaughter of actor Joseph Bernard , who helped found the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute . After finishing school, Bernard first attended Skidmore College , from which she graduated with a bachelor's degree. She then earned her Masters of Fine Arts from Yale University Drama School . The study at Yale, as well as a stay in Moscow, happened on the advice of her grandfather in order to fulfill her dream of an acting career. It was her grandfather who gave her one of her first acting roles on stage in The Children's Hour . Also as a child, she was seen for the first time in front of the camera in 2000 in the film Das Glücksprinzip .
Then a few years passed before she could be seen in front of the camera again. In 2013 she appeared in a guest role on the series Royal Pains and also played a supporting role in the series Alpha House . In 2015, she was in a small role in the comedy film You never stop learning and was also cast as Laura Heller in a recurring role in the series Younger . The role was expanded to a leading role at the beginning of the second season. So far, she has been seen in the role in all six produced seasons. In it she plays alongside Sutton Foster and Debi Mazar, among others . While the latter portrays her friend in the series, Bernard had been a fan of Sutton Foster from childhood, and she also wrote fan mail. In 2016 she was cast in a small role in Clint Eastwood's feature film Sully . From 2016 to 2017 she played a younger version, the character Shelly Pfeffermann embodied by Judith Light in Transparent . Other series appearances include High Maintenance and Blindspot . Since 2018, Bernard has appeared in the Chicago Med series as Dr. Elsa Curry in a supporting role.
Personal
Bernard, who is openly pansexual , announced her engagement to longtime friend Hannah Lieberman via her social media channels in January 2020. The year before, she gave the wedding speech during her serial colleague Hilary Duff's wedding ceremony .
