Momberg is the largest district of the city of Neustadt (Hessen) in the central Hessian district of Marburg-Biedenkopf . Momberg has about 1100 inhabitants and is one of the oldest settlements in Hessenland. There is evidence that Winfried Bonifatius worked here.

geography

Momberg is next to the neighboring village Mengsberg the northeasternmost place in the district of Marburg-Biedenkopf. Momberg is about 35 km from the district town of Marburg , about in the middle of the hill country between Vogelsberg and Kellerwald . Located on the Rhine / Weser watershed, the district borders the Schwalm-Eder district near Wiera in the east, Mengsberg in the north and Speckswinkel in the west . The southern boundary is that to the city of Neustadt (Hesse).

Like almost all Hessian villages, Momberg is also located on the water - the Kalbach. However, Momberg is not aware of the risk of flooding. The eastern boundary of the district is the Hardwasser . The village rises from east to west to Martinsberg at 350 m above sea level. NN. Located in large forest areas ( Herrenwald , Momberger Wald, Staatsforst and Wierarer-Hardt ), the air conditions are always clear, especially since there is no industry. Far away from the major roads, Momberg is also protected from noise.

Momberg is a cluster village . Over the centuries it has oriented itself towards the four streets and expanded to the neighboring communities. The north-south extension is today 1.1 km, that from east to west 1 km. From Unterdorf an der Kalbach to the church in Oberdorf you have to climb from 235 m to 250 m. The Martinsberg is then at 350 m above sea level. NN the highest elevation. The Momberg district today covers around 1092 hectares. The cultivation area is, however, much larger. Because Mombergers own land in the districts of Neustadt, Speckswinkel, Mengsberg, and Wiera. If you account for the land in Momberg, the farmed area is 1187 hectares.
