Mona Khaled Abdalla ( Arabic منى خالد) (Born April 9, 1994 in the United States ) is an Egyptian chess player .

Life

In September 2007, as a 13-year-old, she won the African Women's Individual Championship, which was held in Windhoek , Namibia, with a result of eight wins from nine games. By winning the African women's championship, she was awarded the title of women's grandmaster by the World Chess Federation FIDE . In December 2008, at the age of 14, she won the title of Arab women champion in Sharjah . For her as an Egyptian, these titles are special because in January 2009 there were only three women actively playing chess in Egypt with an international rating . She won the African women's championship again in Maputo in June 2011 , and with nine points from nine games in May 2015 in Cairo .

With the Egyptian women's national team, she took part in the 2008 Chess Olympiad in Dresden with a result of eight points from ten games on the second and third board. She also played for Egypt at the Chess Olympiads in 2010 in Khanty-Mansiysk (on the third board), 2012 in Istanbul , 2014 in Tromsø , 2016 in Baku and 2018 in Batumi (both on the first board), as well as in the 2017 Women's World Team Championship Chess competitions of the women of the African Games 2007 (in which she achieved the best result of the reserve players) and 2011 (which she won both in the team evaluation with Egypt and in the individual evaluation on the third board) as well as in the chess competitions of the women of the Pan-Arabian Games in 2007 (which she won with Egypt) and 2011 (in which she won the individual ranking on the third board). She also took part in the women's chess world championships in 2012 and 2017 . She heads the African women's Elo rating.
