from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Monbijou Bridge

The Monbijoubrücke connects the Monbijou district across the Aare with the Kirchenfeld district .

The Monbijou quarter takes its name from the Mon Bijou country house ( French for "my jewel") built in 1775 and remodeled in 1820 at today's Monbijoustrasse 5/7 and the homonymous estate. The concrete bridge was built by Hartenbach and Wenger in a two-year construction period and inaugurated on August 8, 1962. It is 337.5 m long and 23.5 m wide.

From the Monbijou Bridge you have a good view of the south facade of the Federal Palace and the old town of Bern .
