Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. ( MPS ) provides integrated circuits for systems used in cloud computing, telecommunications infrastructure , automotive , industrial, and consumer applications. The products are sold through third-party suppliers, value-added resellers and directly to original equipment manufacturers , original design manufacturers and service providers for electronics manufacturing in China, Taiwan, Europe, Korea, Southeast Asia, Japan and the United States.

history

Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. was founded in November 1997 by Michael Hsing and James C. Moyer with the aim of building a monolithic power supply system on a single chip.

In May 1998, the company launched a single-chip solution to power the CCFL backlight in notebooks. The product significantly reduced overall solution cost and design complexity, and resulted in significantly improved performance conversion.

The company then diversified into DC / DC products, which defined the industry standard. In November 2004 Michael Hsing brought the company to the stock exchange. The company has grown by up to 21% annually and in 2017 won the Global Semiconductor Alliance Award Global Semiconductor Alliance for the most prestigious emerging public company. MPS now comprises 11 product lines with more than 2,000 products.

Products

MPS designs, develops, and markets communications, storage and computer markets, consumer electronics, industrial and automotive markets. The company sells its products through third-party suppliers, value-added resellers and directly to original equipment manufacturers, original design manufacturers and electronics manufacturing service providers in China, Taiwan, Europe, Korea, Southeast Asia, Japan and the United States.

MPS produces 40,000 wafers (TS certified) in 8 and 12 inch wafer factories.
