Moor in the Krötensee forest

The nature reserve moor in the Krötenseewald is located in the Langenbacher Forest , a community-free area in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria .
The 20.99 hectare area with the number NSG-00434.01, which was placed under nature protection in 1993 , extends north of the core town of Langenbach , a district of the municipality of Geroldsgrün . The state border with Thuringia runs not far to the west, north and east . The 45.5 hectare nature reserve Fränkische Muschwitz extends to the west and northwest, to the north and east it is the 22.3 hectare nature reserve Thuringian Muschwitz .
The protection is placed to preserve a valuable moorland with near-natural quarry forest and swamp areas as well as spring meadows and the habitat of a large number of rare, sensitive and endangered plant and animal species.
