The Schmidtsberg nature reserve lies in the area of ​​the market town of Nordhalben in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria .

The 21.13 hectare area with the number NSG-00219.01, which was placed under nature protection in 1984 , extends south of the core town of Nordhalben and northwest of Langenau , a district of Geroldsgrün . Not far to the south the Stebenbach has its source , not far to the east the Rainersgrundbach flows . The St 2707 runs to the west and the Rodach flows , while the 37.9 hectare nature reserve beech slopes extends to the southeast .
