Moratalla is a town and municipality in the Murcia region ( Spain ), which is 83 km northwest of the provincial capital Murcia . With an area of ​​955 km², the municipality is the third largest in the Autonomous Community of Murcia after Lorca (1676 km²) and Jumilla (972 km²). Moratalla has 7839 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019), called moratalleros . The main economic sectors are agricultural products (olives, olive oil , almonds, apricots) and tourism .
