Moritz Friedrich Wilhelm von Schwerin

Moritz Friedrich Wilhelm von Schwerin (born November 4, 1745 in Pasewalk , † March 11, 1829 in Dargibell ) was a Prussian officer and district administrator of the Pomeranian district of Anklam .

Life

Moritz von Schwerin was a son of Otto Martin von Schwerin (1701–1777), General of the Prussian Army , and Ester Marie von Quadt zu Landskron . After private tuition at home, he attended the Knight Academy in Brandenburg Cathedral from 1757 . In 1761 he joined the hussar regiment of Major General von Belling without his father's knowledge and took part in the Seven Years' War with them. In 1764, at the request of his father, he was transferred to the Dragoon Regiment from Krockow to Silesia . In March 1773 he was promoted to lieutenant. In 1785 he had to retire from active service as Premier Lieutenant after falling from his horse.

In 1773 his father had given him the Busow estate . The Dargibell estate had fallen to him after the death of his brother Ludwig Wilhelm Albrecht (1743–1777). In 1786 he sold Busow for 39,400 thalers to the General Landschaftsrat Detlow Heinrich Bogislaw von Schwerin.

In 1789 he became a deputy at the Pomeranian Landscape . In 1791 he was elected to the landscape council. The estates and the Pomeranian War and Domain Chamber nominated him in 1793 as the successor to the late FFC von Parsenow for the office of district administrator in the Anklamer district. After successfully passing the major exam on September 14, 1793, he was appointed District Administrator on September 18. He remained in this position during the occupation of Pomerania by Napoleonic troops. In 1814 he was awarded the Iron Cross on a white ribbon . In 1816 he went into retirement.

His marriage to Helene Eleonore Marianne von Stosch (1759-1826) in 1774 resulted in two sons and two daughters.
