Morozeviczit is a very rare mineral from the mineral class of sulfides and sulfosalts . It crystallizes in the cubic crystal system with the chemical composition (Pb, Fe) 3 Ge 1-x S 4 and forms brownish-gray masses with other sulfides. It forms a mixed crystal row with Polkovicit , in which lead is exchanged for iron .
Etymology and history
The mineral was first found in 1975 by Czeslaw Haranczyk in the Polkowice mine near Legnica in Poland . He named it after the Polish mineralogy professor Josef Morozewicz .
classification
In the Strunz system , morozeviczite is counted as a metal sulfide with a ratio of metal to sulfur, selenium or tellurium of 1: 1. After the 8th edition it forms a group together with colusite , germanite , maikainite , vinciennite , nekrasovite , ovamboite , polkovicit , renierite , stibiocolusite , sulvanite and germanocolusite . In the 9th edition , it forms a subgroup of sulfides with zinc , iron , copper or silver with catamarcaite , hemusite , kiddcreekite , vinciennite, polkovicit and renierite .
In the Dana systematics , it forms with Polkovicit a subgroup of sulfides, selenides and tellurides with a general formula A m B n X p and a ratio of (m + n) to p of 1: 1.
Education and Locations
Morozeviczit is formed by metasomatosis of sandstone or older sulphides. It is associated with marcasite , chalcopyrite , bornite , chalcosine , tennantite , sphalerite and galena .
The mineral has so far only been found at its type locality, the Polkowice mine in Poland.
Crystal structure
Morozeviczite crystallizes in the cubic crystal system with the lattice parameter a = 10.61 Å and eight formula units per unit cell .
