TSV IFA Chemnitz

The TSV IFA Chemnitz eV (until 1990 BSG Motor IFA Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a German sports club based in Chemnitz . The association currently has around 500 members. In addition to the largest soccer department , the club also has departments for tennis , chess , hiking and senior sports .

The club's badminton players played in the GDR league from 1961 to 1965 and were runner-up in the 1964/65 season.

history

1949–1953: BSG IFA plant in Chemnitz

The club was founded on July 4th 1949 as a company sports association of the IFA-Werke in Chemnitz (BSG IFA Werk Chemnitz). At that time 63 sports fans joined forces who were active in the sports of soccer , handball , fistball , table tennis and chess .

The merger with SG Chemnitz Ost took place in August of the same year. By joining forces with the 533-strong sports community the divisions went cycling , heavy and track and field , gymnastics , Rhönrad , billiards , ski and local history and nature lovers on the BSG. The club, which now has more than 675 members, initially had its sporting domicile in the Sonnenberg district of Chemnitz on the Jahnkampfbahn on Fürstenstrasse.

1953–1990: BSG Motor IFA Karl-Marx-Stadt

After the political renaming of the city of Chemnitz to Karl-Marx-Stadt on May 10, 1953, the association also got a new name and from then on was called BSG Motor IFA Karl-Marx-Stadt. The number of members increased continuously until the 1980s. The BSG had grown to more than 1,600 members. At that time the association had twelve sections and seven sports groups and cooperated with two sponsored schools and four kindergartens.

The shuttlecock sector was very successful . Here the club reached third place in the GDR league , the top division, in the 1963/64 season , and then made the runner- up in the following season .

Since 1990: TSV IFA Chemnitz

After the political change, the renaming of the city and the reunification of Germany, the club was entered in the register of associations in 1990 as TSV IFA Chemnitz eV. The new beginning in the difficult years after the reunification was successfully mastered thanks to many honorary members and functionaries as well as thanks to the former sponsoring company and the newly acquired sponsors. Today the association has about 500 members in the five departments soccer , tennis , chess, hiking and senior sports .


Venues

Stadium on Eubaer Strasse

The stadium on Eubaer Straße is the main stadium of TSV IFA Chemnitz. It is located on Eubaer Strasse in the Gablenz district of Chemnitz .

This is where the 1st and 2nd teams play and train regularly, as well as the senior, A, B, C and D juniors. In addition to the main square (lawn) with trusses, there is also a hard court with floodlights and a modern social building on the stadium grounds.

Sports field "Zur Vogelweid"

The “Zur Vogelweide” sports field is located in the Yorck area of Chemnitz . It is located near the “Yorckgebiet” terminus on Fürstenstrasse.

This is where the games and training sessions for the E, F and G juniors take place. In addition to a social wing, there is also the Chemnitz Sports Youth (SIC) meeting for children and young people.
