Mougon is a commune Déléguée in the French community Aigondigné with 2,089 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The inhabitants are called Mougonais .
The municipality of Mougon merged with Thorigné Commune nouvelle Mougon-Thorigné on January 1, 2017 , which in turn merged with other municipalities on January 1, 2019 to form the Commune nouvelle Aigondigné. Mougon has had the status of a Commune déléguée since January 1, 2017. The municipality of Mougon belonged to the Arrondissement of Niort and the canton of Celles-sur-Belle .

Mougon is about 13 kilometers east-southeast of Niort and about 57 kilometers southwest of Poitiers . The Lambon runs through the north of the former municipality . The municipality of Mougon was surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Fressines in the north, Aigonnay in the northeast, Thorigné in the east, Tauché in the southeast, Prahecq in the south and southwest and Vouillé in the west.
