Asientos is the name of one of the eleven Municipios of the Mexican state of Aguascalientes . The administrative seat of the municipality is Asientos of the same name , while the largest town is Villa Juárez . The municipality has 45,492 inhabitants (2010) and covers an area of 549.1 km².
geography
The municipality Asientos is located in the east of the state of Aguascalientes at an altitude between 2000 m and 2600 m . It belongs entirely to the physiographic province of the Mesa del Centro . A good 86% of the municipality is in the catchment area of the Río Lerma and thus drains into the Pacific , the rest is in the endorheic hydrological region of El Salado . The geology of the municipality consists of 41% alluvion , 33% rhyolite tuff , 19% sedimentary rock and 7% metamorphic ; Soil type of 53% of the municipality is the Durisol with 32% Leptosol . 65% of the community area is used for arable farming, 22% is covered by scrub, about 12% is used as pasture.
The Municipio Asientos borders the Municipios Tepezalá , El Llano , Aguascalientes , San Francisco de los Romo and Pabellón de Arteaga as well as the states of Jalisco and Zacatecas .

The 2010 census counted 45,492 people in 10,007 residential units in the municipality. Of these, 47 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language . About 5.5% of the population were illiterate. 14,319 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which approx. 78% were men and approx. 7.6% were unemployed. About eight percent of the population lived in extreme poverty.
