The municipality of El Choro is a district in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of El Choro is one of three municipalities in the province of Cercado . It borders the Municipio Caracollo to the north, the Saucarí Province to the west, the Poopó Province to the southeast, the Pantaleón Dalence Province to the east , and the Oruro Municipio to the northeast .

The central place of the municipality is the village of El Choro with 185 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the southern part of the district. The municipality had 114 localities at the last census, the largest village is Regantes Crucero Belén with 451 inhabitants.

The municipality of El Choro is located on the eastern edge of the Bolivian Altiplano in front of the Cordillera Azanaques , which is part of the Cordillera Central mountain range . The climate is a typical time of day climate in which the temperature fluctuations during the day are greater than during the year.
