Crucero Belén is a town in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Crucero Belén is the central place of the canton Crucero Belén in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) El Choro in the province of Cercado and is located at an altitude of 3710 m in the river valley of the Río Desaguadero , which is east of the village from the Uru-Uru Lake towards the Poopó lake flows.

Crucero Belén is located on the eastern edge of the Bolivian Altiplano in front of the Cordillera Azanaques , which is part of the Cordillera Central mountain range . The climate is a typical time of day climate in which the temperature fluctuations during the day are greater than during the year.
The mean average temperature of the region is around 8 ° C (see climate diagram) and fluctuates between 3 ° C in June and July and 11 ° C from November to March. Crucero Belén is 51 kilometers by road southwest of Oruro , the capital of the department.
From Oruro, the 279 kilometer long highway Ruta 12 leads in a south-westerly direction to Challacollo and from there via Toledo , Huachacalla and Sabaya to Pisiga on the Chilean border. Four kilometers southwest of Challacollo, the Ruta 12 crosses the Río Desaguadero , and directly behind the road bridge, a paved country road branches off to the southeast towards the village of El Choro . After seventeen kilometers an unpaved side road leads in a north-easterly direction and after another three kilometers you reach Crucero Belén .

Due to the historical population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the municipality of El Choro 83.1 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
