Palizada is a municipality in the Mexican state of Campeche . The municipality has 8352 inhabitants (2010 census) and is 2150 km² in size. The administrative seat and largest place of the municipality is the Palizada of the same name .
geography
The municipality of Palizada is located in the southwest of the Mexican state of Campeche at an altitude of less than 100 m . It belongs entirely to the physiographic province of the southern coastal plain of the Gulf and to the sub-province of the plains and swamps of Tabasco and the hydrographic region of Grijalva - Usumacinta . The geology of the municipality is determined by 46% by alluvion , 35% by Palustrian and 16% by lacustrian deposits; the predominant soil types are Gleysol (46%), Vertisol (39%) and Solonchak (11%). About half of the community area is taken up by mangroves and swamps, about 16% is forested.
The Municipio Palizada borders the Municipio Carmen and the State of Tabasco .
population
In the 2010 census, 8352 people were counted in 2181 residential units in the municipality. Of these, 56 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language , including 20 speakers of Mayathan and 16 speakers of Chol . A good eleven percent of the population were illiterate. 3,054 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which approx. 80% were men or 4.4% were unemployed. Over 17% of the population lived in extreme poverty.
