The municipality of San Pedro de Totora is a district in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of San Pedro de Totora is the only municipality in the province of San Pedro de Totora . It is bordered to the north by the La Paz department , to the west and southwest by the province of Sajama , to the southeast by the province of Carangas , and to the east by the province of Nor Carangas . The municipality of San Pedro de Totora lies between 17 ° 41 'and 18 ° 06' south latitude and between 67 ° 33 'and 67 ° 58' west longitude . The municipality extends over 45 kilometers in east-west and over 50 kilometers in north-south direction.

The central place of the municipality is Totora with 270 inhabitants (2012 census) in the northeastern part of the district, the largest village is Culta with 604 inhabitants in the southeast of the district.

The municipality of San Pedro de Totora is located on the Bolivian Altiplano between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Serranía de Huayllamarca in the east. The region has a distinctive time-of-day climate, with temperatures fluctuating more during the day than during the year.
